Both environmental legislation and social pressures require legacy contamination and recent spills to be cleaned up. WJ provide specialist contract services for in-situ soil remediation and the recovery and treatment of contaminated groundwater. Petroleum hydrocarbon and chlorinated solvent contaminants have been dealt with as well as less prevalent substances such as metals, pesticides and radioactive materials.
Technologies available include free product recovery, sparging, vapour recovery, in-well stripping, bio-venting, chemical oxidation and permeable reactive barriers. Groundwater and vapour recovered may be treated using activated carbon, filters, settlement tanks, separators, pH manipulation, air stripping with off-gas treatment and wetland technology.
Project services range from plant hire and pilot plant testing through to full specification, installation, commissioning, operation and monitoring services.
