Landfill operators and waste site owners have obligations to control leachate and gas on current and legacy disposal sites. Both vertical and horizontal wells may be used to collect gas and control leachate levels.
Waste sites constitute a challenging physical, chemical and biological environment which requires careful specification of pumping plant and materials. The health and safety of site staff and any neighbours must also be considered with particular care when undertaking work on landfill sites.
