The proposed works involved the construction of 2 No. Final Settlement Tanks and an Aeration Tank in open cut. These works required excavation over an area of 70 m by 58 m to a depth of 6.5 m. Ground conditions comprised Alluvium overlying Glacial Deposits with standing groundwater level within 1.50 m of ground level. The dewatering scheme comprised the installation of two hundred 6 m long wellpoints. Discharge flows peaked at 50 l/s. WJ used an automated data logger monitoring system which provided an onsite/call-out alarm.
